Housing Placement

We believe that housing is a human right.

Using a Housing First approach, LAFH works with every individual and family who comes through our doors to connect them with the interim or permanent housing solution that best meets their unique needs. In addition to our own apartment portfolio, we manage a vast network of landlord connections to help people transitioning out of homelessness find safe, permanent homes. Over the years, our housing model has successfully ended homelessness for thousands of Angelenos.

In 2024, we began preparing The Sieroty – a former Howard Johnson motel and current Project Homekey site – for its conversion from Interim Housing into Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH). During this period, our team held housing fairs two to three times per week to help participants find permanent homes, bringing landlords to the site to approve applications on the spot. By the time the Sieroty stopped operating as interim housing so that PSH construction could begin, almost half of its residents were already permanently housed.

One of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done in my life is hand someone keys and say, “Welcome home.”

Partner Highlight / Health Net

LA Family Housing is proud to welcome new grant partners who joined our mission in 2024. Health Net of California, Inc. provided vital support to our Housing Location services—a program designed to expand access to permanent, affordable housing for individuals experiencing homelessness across Service Planning Area (SPA) 2. By fostering strong relationships with local landlords, this program plays a key role in addressing the region’s critical housing shortage.

Thanks to Health Net’s partnership, our Housing Location team has continued its essential work, helping participants navigate the complex process of finding, securing, and maintaining permanent housing. In 2024, this collaborative effort resulted in the acquisition of 1,295 new affordable housing units and the successful placement of 949 participants into stable housing.
